Quality Improvement Plan Guidance. A Quality Improvement Plan is a documented set of quality commitments made by a health care organization to its patients, clients, residents, staff and community on an annual basis. The goal is to improve quality through focused targets and actions.
Overview. Quality determines whether services increase the likelihood of achieving desired mental health outcomes and whether they meet the current requirements of evidence-based practice. Quality is important in all mental health systems because good quality ensures that people with mental disorders receive the care they require and that their symptoms and quality of life improve.
Quality improvement (for better control) is a process for changing standards. It is not a process for maintaining or creating new standards. Standards are changed through a process of selection, analysis, corrective action on the standard or process, education and training.
