The QI Plan is generally developed by executive and clinical leadership and in many organizations must be approved by the organizations governing body such as a Board of Directors.
Health care organizations can take advantage of established principles and approaches to quality improvement, which are already familiar to the many providers involved in clinical quality improvement (QI).
What is a quality improvement (QI) program? A QI program is a set of focused activities designed to monitor, analyze, and improve the quality of processes in order to improve the healthcare outcomes in an organization. By gathering and analyzing data in key areas, a hospital can effectively implement change.
The QIO Program, one of the largest federal programs dedicated to improving health quality for Medicare beneficiaries, is an integral part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human (HHS) Services\' National Quality Strategy for providing better care and better health at lower cost.
