These results suggest that quarantine measures during COVID-19 pandemic are associated with increased risk of experiencing mental health burden, especially for vulnerable groups.
While there may be a minimum time period required in order to mitigate potential disease spread, such as the recommended 14-day self-isolation to minimize the risk of spreading coronavirus, 6 prolonging quarantine beyond the recommended time may cause greater detriments to mental well-being.
This section was last updated in March 2021 and summarises the activity reported via the mental health COVID-19 dashboards as at 24 January 2021. It will be updated quarterly during the pandemic. Population rates are calculated using Australian Bureau of Statistics estimated resident populations at 30 June 2020.
