Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender queer or gender non-conforming people might face specific health concerns related to their gender incongruence, sexual orientation, practices and social stigma. LGBTQ people are at higher risk of anxiety and depression.
All people need medical care. Yet for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) individuals, basic and essential healthcare services can be difficult to access. What is LGBTQ health discrimination?
Although being LGBTQ+ is absolutely not a mental illness, many LGBTQ+ people experience mental health struggles. The bisexual and transgender communities have the highest rates of mental health concerns within the LGBTQ+ population. Younger members of the LGBTQ+ community struggle the most with mental health concerns of all the age groups.
