Welcome to Angeline Elizabeth Kirby Memorial Health Center. Located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the Kirby Health Center offers state-of-the-art laboratory services in the environmental, clinical, toxicological, and consumer product testing areas. Clients for the laboratory are found locally, nationally, and worldwide.
The purpose of the Wilkes-Barre City Health Department is to prevent disease and to promote and protect the health of Wilkes-Barre City residents. The Department does so by assessing the needs of the public, offering public health services and creating sound public health policies.
Perhaps more importantly, they also needed a partner who shared the same vision and values as to how to systemically address the issue of rehabilitation. The partner they chose was The Salvation Army. Working in tandem, the Kirby Health Center and the Salvation Army built this premier facility in 1995.
The Kirby House provides a haven for the entire family as they receive needed social services, and begin rebuilding their lives. This approach breeds stronger family bonds and is part of permanent non transitory solution. But providing a solution to a homeless family is more than building strong values.
