Therapeutic modalities are devices, usually mechanical in nature, that complement common hands-on treatment methods, and stretching and exercise routines, to maximize pain-free functional mobility. The most common forms of therapeutic modalities are use of heat and ice.
Treatment modalities, or methods of treatment, are the ways that a doctor or administrative health professional treat a patient with mental, emotional, personality disorders or dual diagnosis. What is a Treatment Modality? A treatment modality is a title given to the variety of different treatment types for helping those with mental health issues.
The treatment of patients in clinical psychology generally includes an assessment of the patient's overall mental health in order to determine which specific conditions the patient might have and how best to proceed with treatment. Clinical psychologists use psychoanalysis as their main tool in alleviating mental distress.
Mental health therapies could be psychotherapeutic or somatic. Behavioral therapy, hypnotherapy, and marital psychotherapy are some types of psychotherapeutic treatment. Drug and electroconvulsive therapy are somatic treatments. Many mental illnesses require a combination of both kinds of therapy.
