The BARHII Framework | BARHII BARHII developed a conceptual framework that illustrates the connection between social inequalities and health, and focuses attention on measures which have not characteristically been within the scope of public health department epidemiology.
BARHII is a recognized thought leader, influencer in the realm of policy, and promoter of cross-sectional models that narrow the disparity gaps. We’re leveraging the power of 9 counties and their health departments to create health equity and economic opportunity through action, systems change, and expanding possibilities for Bay Area residents.
To identify relevant, peer-reviewed publications, we performed electronic searches in major scientific databases: MEDLINE/Ovid, Sociological Abstracts/ProQuest, Web of Science/Clarivate Analytics, and Google Scholar. Examples of search terms included SDOH, social inequalities, social inequities, social disparities, and health differences.
Background: Despite the wealth of frameworks on social determinants of health (SDOH), two current limitations include the relative superficial description of factors affecting health and a lack of focus on measuring health equity.
